In the 1960's the poultry industry wasn't as developed as it is today. The eggs of chickens which were brought up in villages were taken to large towns and cities to be sold. This was how the general populations need for eggs was met. The private sector was not yet dealing with the breeding industry. In government farms, there were New Hampshire chickens brought to Turkey from the United States of America through the Marshall Aid program. The eggs of these chickens were hatched and sold not even knowing what the sex of the chicks may have been.

There was a very vague approach and little understanding towards the sector. Realizing the demand for the sector, 'Emek Tavukçuluk', established themselves in 1960, and approached the business with a professional manner.

With the increasing need for breeders, 'Emek Tavukçuluk' made an attack by investing in incubators. In 1973, 'Emek Tavukçuluk' targeted to increase its weekly egg capacity to 14.000 eggs.

In 1983 a partnership with the American company 'Hy-Line International' was struck. In that same year incubators were imported from Holland with a capacity of 230.400 eggs, the new partnership with 'Hy-line international led to rapid development. Land was bought and layers and broilers were also produced in already existing breeder poultry houses.

In 1990, as a result of the increase in the breeding house investments, establishing a feed factory was inevitable. There was rapid development and growth and the chain of integration was about to be completed.

Together with the establishment of the hatchery and slaughterhouse and the increasing number of farms, in 1999 'Emek Tavukçuluk' changed its title to "Şeker Piliç".

On the 22nd of February 2000, Şeker Piliç started to operate in the stock exchange. In 1997, Şeker Piliç took place for the first time in the general classification of the traditional study of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, "The Top 500 companies" and was 493rd. During the following years Şeker Piliç proved the continuation of its success by taking 408th, 341st, 311st, 328th, 329th, and 300th place.
